Building Remediation Sciences Division

Pure Air Control Services, Inc. provides a complete IEQ Remediation program for buildings designated as contaminated. Treated buildings are monitored with an optional indoor air quality maintenance agreement to ensure a healthy environment for the future.

Allergens such as dust mite (dermatophagoides: pteronyssinus, farinae), cockroaches or allergens from domestic pets, cats, dogs, along with pollens, insect biodetritus, skin cell flakes, dust, mold and bacteria can be critical to the concerned building occupant or allergy sufferer. Avoidance measures, protective and/or mitigation measures have a marked therapeutic effect to occupants/patients hypersensitive to these allergens.

As an industry leader, Pure Air Control Services (PACS), with over 350 million square feet of building experience, provides professional remediation services for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional facilities. These services are performed, under the direction of an Industrial Hygienist, Building Scientist, Environmental Chemist, Microbiologist and/or CIAQP's with state of the art equipment in accordance with:

  • New York Department of Health Protocols for removal of Contaminated Drywall Guidelines.
  • American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Microbial Guidelines.
  • North America Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) recommended practice for cleaning fibrous glass insulated ducts.
  • Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SMACCA) Guidelines.
  • PACS industry specification for "Mechanical HVAC DustDecontamination of Porous and Non-Porous Air Conveyance System (ACS) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Protocols."
  • National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) Standards.

Pure Air Control Services maintains the staff and expertise to assess and analyze contaminates within the air handling equipment and/or the air conveyance system. After assessing the extent of contamination, protocols and specifications for the removal, retrofit or remediation of the project is designed.

Pure Air Control Services has the professional experience required to develop work plan (CPM -critical path method) control strategies for these conditions. A few of the environmental remediation strategies include:

  • Workplace controls to prevent contamination of the indoor environment.
  • Source removal and/or treatment of the air conveyance system to reduce contamination (i.e., anti-microbial coatings).
  • Daily Progress Reports faxed to owner providing latest project update.
  • Validation and monitoring ambient air for background and project assessment.
  • Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements:
    • Respiratory Protection Program: 1910.134
    • Confined Space Program:1910.146
    • Hazard Communication Program: 1910.120
    • Lock Out-Tag Out Program: 1910.147
    • Bloodborne Pathogens:1910.1030
    • Fall Protection: 1910(SubPart D)

Visual inspections of before and after conditions within the interior duct work are accomplished with the use of Fiber-Optic Imaging and/or 35 mm photographs.

Environmental Cryogenics Technology (ECT) developed by Pure Air Control services and their scientists is used to effectively clean hard surfaces and treat mold contaminated wood structures as well as drywall and other building materials. ECT is a process that can be used on-line without damaging building materials or requiring massive cleanup.
